Eyebag removal
is a very common procedure performed for both men and
women. Many clients tell us that their eyes look tired
all of the time and this is the ideal procedure to correct
this. It is possible to correct just the lower or upper
eyelids, or both at the same time.
Before the Procedure
It is essential that you get sound professional advice before
you go ahead with a tummy tuck procedure. At Mills & Mills Medical Group we believe that all
advice should be free. That’s why we offer a free
private consultation with our surgeons without any obligation.
We also offer a meeting with one of our friendly patient co-ordinators who are
on hand to give you information on other aspects of your procedure, such as for
example, the cost of the procedure, availability in our hospital, as well as
different ways of paying for your procedure such as through a cosmetic surgery
loan. Our co-ordinators are not there to give clinical advice, only our surgeon
can do that, but they are there as a continual support throughout your care with
Mills and Mills.
Before you attend for your consultation try and write down
all the questions that you would like to ask our surgeon.
You may forget when you are there. It’s
also a good idea to bring someone along with you for support, of course, if you
want to keep the procedure totally confidential, that’s fine too.
Consultations are easy to arrange and are held throughout the United Kingdom
and in Marbella.
The Consultation
Your consultation for eyebag removal will last between half an hour and one hour
typically. You will have the opportunity to ask all of your questions directly
to the surgeon. He will examine you and make his recommendations. He will explain
the benefits of eyebag removal and the risks too.
Following your consultation with the surgeon, your patient co-ordinator will
be able to confirm the cost and make all arrangements for you if you decide to
proceed.
Pre-operative screening
Before your procedure it may be necessary to have some tests carried out. For
example, blood tests. Your surgeon will advise you what tests are required. Your
patient co-ordinator will arrange these for you. It is important that we know
you are fit and well for the procedure.
The Procedure
Your blepharoplasty procedure is usually performed under general anaesthetic,
which means that you are asleep throughout the procedure. However, it may be
possible to have a local anaesthetic, perhaps with sedation.
This is more common when having just the upper eyelids corrected. Discuss this
with your surgeon at the consultation.
To correct upper eyelid droop, an incision is made in the crease of the upper
eyelid. For the lower eyelid the surgeon makes an incision along the creaseline
of the lower eyelash line.
The procedure will remove excess skin and fat that gives
you that tired look. However, it may not correct wrinkles
around the eyes. There are specific non surgical procedures
performed at Mills & Mills which deal with this problem
very effectively.
After the procedure
You will remain in our hospital overnight unless the surgeon has advised you
that you can go home the same day. You will be taken home or to your hotel to
begin your recovery period. You can expect some swelling and bruising round the
eyes. This will be evident for ten to fourteen days. You can wear sunglasses
to disguise the swelling and protect the eyes from strong sunlight. (One of the
benefits of having your procedure in Marbella is that sunglasses are worn by
everyone! If you are a contact lense wearer, you can continue use after about
five days.
There may be sutures to remove if dissolvable ones have not been used. Again
your surgeon will advise you. We advise that you plan to have ten to fourteen
days off work. Woman can begin to apply makeup again after one week.
