Cosmetic dentistry role in oral care

Cosmetic dentistry includes every aspect of oral care, including teeth whitening, bonding, veneers, gum lifts, etc. It takes a great deal of balance between science and art to perform cosmetic surgery as it is aimed at not only providing you with healthy teeth but also a smile that compliments you face and personality.

The most common cosmetic surgery procedures available today are:

  • Whitening- It is often referred to tooth bleaching and is one of the most common procedures followed for discoloured teeth.
  • Bonding- In this procedure enamel-like material is used to fill a chipped or slightly broken tooth and then sculpted, hardened and polished for a perfect look.
  • Veneers- These are custom made and are directly brought in contact with teeth that are not curable with simpler whitening procedures and is also used to close gaps, these are in demand right now as with today’s technology, it is far easier than it used to be
  • Gum lift- This is used to provide you with a more symmetrical and complimenting gum line, and requires reshaping of tissue and jaw bones.

While in the old days Gold and other expensive material were the first choice of customers, with the advent of newer filling materials like porcelain and other composite materials customers can now get their preferred look, which is more natural looking and goes well with the rest of your teeth.
