Professional and affordable orthopaedic surgery in Spain
Orthopaedic Surgery: Arthroscopy
What is an Arthroscopy?
An instrument called an arthroscope is used by our orthopaedic
Surgeon to examine joints. It can be performed on an outpatient
basis in selected cases which means there is no need to stay
in hospital.
Our Surgeon makes tiny incisions in the skin
through which the arthoscope is inserted to examine troublesome
joints. Your joint can be seen on a camera so that the Surgeon
can see where the problems are , if any.
Arthroscopy is extremely
useful because it means that joints can be examined and problems
easily diagnosed without the need for extensive surgery.
It also means that you are likely to recover much more quickly
and you should have less pain because the procedure is much
kinder to your tissues.
The procedure is performed in one
of our hospitals in a fully equipped operating theatre.
Arthroscopy could be an option for you if you have problems
with any of the following complaints:
- Swollen joints
- Arthritis
- Osteoarthritis
- Ligament strains
- Cartilage problems
- Joint problems in the ankle, knee, wrist elbow and shoulder
Our Orthopedic Surgeon will discuss with
you the type of anesthesia most appropriate for your arthroscopy.
You can discuss general, sedation, epidural or even
local anesthetic depending on the area to be examined and
your state of health.
Following your procedure you will be
encouraged to rest and enjoy a recuperative break in Marbella
if you are traveling outside of Spain. Our Surgeon may suggest
series of light exercises to strengthen the muscles. This
is very important as we will be looking to provide good stability
and movement of your joints once more.
