"From
the age of eight I have been overweight and my weight just
spiralled out of control over my teen years. My life was
hell right through school because of the bullying, I even
had to go back to college to re-sit my exams, and college
kids weren’t much kinder. At the age of 17 I had managed
to let myself get to 16stonet 2 and a size 24 clothes! I
looked in the mirror one day something I didn’t usually
do unless I had to. I stared hard at my “deformed body” I
was disgusted! With tears forming I said to myself, “This
is it, you have got to sort this out!” and from that
day I started to eat right, and exercised daily.
The first
few weeks were hard trying to adjust to my new lifestyle,
but every week when I got on those scales I lit up inside,
I was actually losing weight! That gave me the will power
to see it through. After 3 months I had lost about 2 stone
and my new diet had become part of my everyday routine, yet
the weight was still dropping off and I was feeling better
and better! Another 3 months passed and I weighed 12 stone,
I lost 4 stone in 6 months it was fantastic, BUT I started
to notice my skin wasn’t shrinking with me.
I started
doing 300 sit ups and 300 bum crunches, then 300 star jumps
every night without fail, but still my skin refused to budge.
6 months later I had reached my target weight of 8
stone 2, dress size 10, I stood in front of the mirror as
I did the previous year and I should have been smiling, I
had lost half my body weight, but I wasn’t, I was just
as disgusted with my still “deformed” body as
I was before. I had horrific, loose, over hanging skin on
my stomach, and my once 40DD breasts had shrunk to a 34A
and all that was left was horrid bags of skin where my breasts
used to sit, despite 6 months of sit ups.
I had kept my weight
off for a year, hiding my ‘deformed’ body
under baggy clothes (baggier than the clothes I wore before
the weight loss!) I was so unhappy with myself I became
very depressed at the age of 19, that’s when my mum
started to look for a surgeon to help me. We found Mills
and Mills online and it looked fantastic on the website;
my mum spoke to Debra Mills and within a few weeks I was
off for my consultation with Dr Marco Vricella. He made me
feel so comfortable I knew inside that he was the surgeon
I wanted to help me; he decided that I needed a tummy tuck
and breast implants and that he thought he could spare me
the scars of an uplift as I was young and my skin should
be able to accommodate the implants he had planned to place
in through the nipple. They gave my mum a really good quote
as she was the lifesaver that was making this possible for
me.
Over the next few weeks Debbie stayed in close contact
with me and before we knew it, me and my mum were on a plane
to Marbella. When we arrived there was a gentleman waiting
for us at the airport to pick us up (in a fabulous car might
I add!) and took us to our accommodation. The next morning
he was back to pick me and my mum up to take me to the clinic
for my op. He was lovely, made me feel really comfortable
from the moment we stepped off the plane. When I walked into
the clinic it was just as it looked on the website, it was
immaculate everywhere. My Patient Coordinator Amanda was
there to greet us and show me to my room (which looked like
something I would imagine Victoria Beckham had when she was
having her babies!). Debra then came to see me, to whom I
expressed my fear of needles to; I was terrified! But she
comforted me and when the anaesthesiologist came she stayed
with me and held my hand while he inserted my IV. I kissed
my mum and went for my surgery. I met Dr Vricella in theatre
where he prepared me for the surgery - he was great and calmed
me down so much I really felt like I was in safe hands. While
I was under, Amanda my Patient Coordinator took my mum for
a hire car and made her feel really confident that I was
going to be fine. I woke up and I was in agony but I knew
it was going to be worth it after all my hard work, I felt
so relieved.
I stayed at the clinic for 2 days where I was
treated better than I ever imagined - for example, I really
wanted some ice-cream to cheer me up and they didn’t
have any at the hospital so Debbie got in her car and went
and bought me some from the supermarket! The bandages came
off after about 5 days and I was over the moon, it was the
happiest day of my life! I spent 2 weeks in Marbella so me
and my mum had a fantastic holiday too! I had frequent appointments
with Dr Vricella in Marbella, who handled me really well
when it came to taking my stitches out as basically I’m
a right wimp when it comes to things like that, I wasn’t
the easiest of patients I can tell you that for sure! I was
so happy with the results it totally changed me and my life
for the better. I felt like all my dreams had come true and
everyone at Mills and Mills and my mum, and of course Dr
Vricella had made that happen!
At home I healed well but I
had noticed slight rippling had started to occur on my breasts.
I emailed Debra who contacted me straight away and arranged
an appointment for me in Manchester with Dr Vricella. It
turned out that my skin was so damaged from the weight gain
and loss that it wasn’t strong
enough to accommodate the implants and that I needed a breast
lift. 6 months after my previous op, Mills & Mills flew
me and my mum back to Marbella and sorted out accommodation
for us right across the road from the clinic all free of
charge. The treatment I got was just as amazing as the first
time and Dr Vricella even tightened my tummy a little more
too! I even had my own nurse who came to the hotel
to check my wounds after the surgery. Amanda even took me
and my mum to see the sites of Marbella before we left.
Now
5 months on and I am so happy with my new size 8 figure and
my perfect 34DD breasts. I want to thank everyone from Mills
and Mills and especially Dr Vricella for the amazing things
they have done for me, they are truly amazing people who
change people’s lives everyday.
They have made the world a much better place for me to live
in and I will be forever grateful for their kindness and
support through everything. If you’re thinking about
cosmetic surgery I couldn’t give Mills & Mills
a higher recommendation, it’s not an easy decision
to make when you’re
thinking about putting your life in somebody else’s
hands, but if you do, trust Mills & Mills because you
will have no regrets - they really go out of their way to
give you the best experience possible. Fabulous treatment,
fabulous surroundings and absolutely fabulous results! If
I ever want further surgery in the future I wouldn’t
go through anyone else but Mills & Mills and wouldn’t
settle for any less than Dr Vricella - he’s totally
amazing at what he does and has a great personality to go
with it.
