"Having firmly decided that I wasn’t happy with my body after losing
a considerable amount of weight and that no amount of exercise was going to improve
my appearance, I started ringing around cosmetic surgery groups with the intension
of arranging consultations.
I approached 2 cosmetic surgery groups. I received some wonderful glossy brochures
promising first class treatment with wonderful results. It wasn’t until
I phoned to make an appointment for a consultation with a well known company
that I spoke to a very pleasant girl who asked if I had considered going abroad
to have the surgery, and if I had heard of Mills and Mills Medical Group. She
spoke so highly of David & Debbie Mills that I didn’t make an appointment
with them, I went home and looked up the number for Mills & Mills and made
an appointment to see the Patient Coordinator & Dr Vricella in Ilkley early
summer of 2006.
I went along to the appointment with my boyfriend Andy not really knowing what
to expect, we were greeted by my Patient Coordinator with a big smile who went
through all the forms and information we need to know. She immediately put us
both at ease and relayed stories of her own experiences. It helped listening
to someone who had gone through exactly the same procedures I was hoping to have Breast
Aug/Mastoplexy and Abdominoplasty.
I then met Dr
Vricella, who examined me and explained what he could do for me and the results
I could expect from the 3 procedures. I went away with dates in my mind and feeling
very confident to be left in Dr Vricella’s capable hands.
When I had roughly decided on a date, Louise Truelove (patient co-ordinator)
got in touch via email, we emailed back and forth and finally settled on the
5th November 2006. Louise was absolutely wonderful, she organised everything
and every time I had the jitters (and there were lots of times) she was there
ringing me reassuring me with no pressure what so ever.
I received a phone call a few days before we were due to fly to Spain from Louise
telling me about a TV programme she was taking part in, "Sunshine
Girls"
all about professional women who had moved out and were working
in Spain. It sounded very glamorous and when she asked me
if I would take part I jumped at the chance. They wanted
one of Louise’s patients to be interviewed and follow
the care and support that was provided through Mills and
Mills especially the care provided by Louise.
Andy and I flew over on Sunday 5th November and were met at the airport by Mike
and Tina who took us to the apartment Louise
had arranged for us.
Louise was there to greet us when we arrived at the apartment and I immediately
had total trust and confidence in her. She arranged to pick us up the following
day to take us to the hospital. We couldn’t believe it when we got there,
I know they had said first class but it was beautiful with RL soft furnishings
and everything.
We were shown to my room by Louise and left to settle in before Damien (Nurse)
came and discussed exactly what was going to happen and to talk through any last
minute worries I had (again there were lots).
I changed into my operating gown and we were given about half an hour to relax
before the film crew came in and interviewed us. It was great because both Andy
and I were extremely nervous and having the film crew there took our minds off
things. I explained to the presenter why I wanted the surgery and what had made
me decide on Mills and Mills, but most of all they wanted to know how Louise
in her role as Patient Coordinator had made such a big difference. I found it
hard trying to explain how wonderful Louise had been and how much confidence
I had in her but hopefully it came across on camera and I did her justice.
The film crew then filmed Louise walking us down to theatre where she gave me
a big hug and promised to look after Andy for me.
I came round from my operation approximately 6 hours later and Louise was the
first person I saw which was very comforting.
I later found out that she had checked on Andy ensuring he was ok, she also arranged
for a bed to be put up in my room so he could stay with me which made the biggest
difference to both of us.
The day following the operation I was really low but the nursing staff were wonderful
and really looked after me and Andy. Louise came to visit and explained that
it was just a side effect of the anaesthetic and promised me I would feel better
the next day. I was discharged feeling much better as promised, and we were taken
back to the apartment to start the recovery process.
Andy and I flew home Monday 13th November, two weeks later I flew back to Spain
to get my stitches out and it was great because I came with my mum this time
so I got to show her how wonderful the hospital was. Again Louise organised this
whole trip booking the lifts to and from the airport, arranging a hotel and ensuring
I attended my appointment.
It’s now 3 months since the operation and I am over the moon with the results,
I never dreamed how big a difference it would make to me and just how positive
I would feel. I have enrolled in college and I am really confident, 3 months
ago that was just a dream for me.
The whole Mills and Mills experience has been unbelievable and the whole team
are wonderful, but for me I can not begin to thank Louise Truelove enough because
the extra care and attention she gives makes you feel so special and I know my
partner Andy would agree she is a very special lady and is perfect for the role
she carries out.
I am now hoping to return to Spain for a follow up appointment with Dr Vricella
and if I ever feel the need for further surgery Mills and Mills will be the only
clinic for me."
